The Heart of Wes Barr has made our first purchases to assist the Agencies that Wes held near to his heart. We were able to make the following purchases with the love and support of our Springfield Community.
Purchased twelve computers for the Boys and Girls Club to be used by Club members and families. Students will have access to technology that may not be available to them in their homes, families are able to register students for school, apply for health benefits or other needs, and The Boys and Girls Club can partner with LLCC to provide the community with a satellite site for early morning and evenings GED classes.
We were also able to purchase a refrigerator for Wooden It Be Lovely's House of Hope, providing services for local women without children healing from lives of poverty, homelessness, addiction, and/or abuse. The House provides a loving residence for 4-5 women at one time.
The Sangamon County Sheriff Office purchased K-9 bite suits, flags, and hats for the honor guard. Equipment for a new K9 has also been added.
Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery Purchased computers to update facility technology
Habitat for Humanity Purchased Storage for construction implements to organize construction implements used in home building program and accessibility wheelchair ramp program
Thank you to everyone who has donated or attended fundraisers. It is because of you that The Heart of Wes Barr is able to support our community and continue Wes's legacy of giving. We greatly appreciate you!
